how I fit 6 pallets of pumpkins on the trailer I did not bring

9:06 AM

Greetings Thinkers,

Well that trip to the plant - produce auction did NOT end up being a window shop at all!
6 pallets = how many pounds of pumpkins? I'd like to know!

What to say to tell you about this adventure and not bore you?

Well first, I belabored about going at all. That was the whole - talking about my work to other people and no one getting it thing of yesterday's email. I'm talking about logistics.

logistics

We all have them. Some more than others. Some less than more.

We all have to figure out logistics and details of our lives at some and varying levels and I'm pretty sure, despite that we all have these details to figure, they are the details that bore our other people.

So when I was trying to explain my dilemma to decide, to these other people of my life, I could see their eyes glazing over even through text.

Well if I go tomorrow, I can't really get anything because I won't have room, but if I don't go tomorrow I won't REALLY know what they have because I can't rely on things is should be able to rely on, and if I don't go tomorrow and something happens when I'm scheduled to go, well then that would be disastrous. I have to get this trailer to haul this much but I don't know who much anything I would get weighs! .. and on and on with the details and logistics.

Did you just glaze over a little? Stay with me.

So I was doing that about going and then I went at the time that was NOT necessary and it pretty much went the exact opposite of the plan in the best way.

Going to an airport solo used to be what made me feel bad ass,
now going to a live auction by myself does.

Being a buyer who loads up a truck makes me feel baddy.

If getting a few things was the slow down quality, I did not slow down yesterday.
If getting things EARLY is the slow down way, ... I did slow down yesterday. The EARLY theme continues! and I am LIKING it.

The sum it up, of it:
I went to this auction with Fancy and NO trailer and ended up buying a tractor trailer size haul of pumpkins. Yes you read that right and it doesn't math up.

And while that line up should make anyone feel screwed, when you don't have a tractor trailer or a fork lift or a CDL for the amount of stuff you just bought and are now responsible to MOVE, what also makes me feel baddy and "lucky" is being someone who has done this enough that I now have friends who have friends who ask on your behalf- hey can you haul some stuff for this girl?! And the guy says yes!

And the guy says yes!

Asking for help is hard. Accepting help is hard.
Having someone else ask for help on your behalf, UNASKED, is really really NICE.

That's how I fit 6 pallets of pumpkins into my day but not into Fancy.

Who is Fancy?

In case you lost track, Fancy is the name of my car. When I got the new car this year, I named her. The first car I have ever named. And while she is very dirty and broken in at this point, she is still so Fancy!

If this is still glazing you over, apply it to pen floating industry or whatever your them of life is! It all applies. It all applies.

Correction: this quote I referenced yesterday and have referenced before and love in my life is NOT from Atlas Shrugged. It's from Ayn Rand's other book - The Fountain Head. I have paraphrased it as : never ask people about your work and I love it. I use it as an orienting factor in my life.

It's Howard Roark speaking to Peter Keating in The Fountainhead, Part I, Chapter II.

“Never ask people. Not about your work. Don't you know what you want? How can you stand it, not to know?”

To me, it has to do with knowing and trusting yourself and not asking for others input "too much" or at all. Define too much.

Day 18 of the Slow Down.

Things I did to slow down yesterday:

I tried to go so slow the dog didn't notice I was going. Gosh this has become such a thing. Maybe I'll write it out tomorrow. But for now just putting it here as an instance of slowing down. Also the number of times I said and then screamed "GO POTTY" yesterday morning was enough to make me feel crazy. If I lived closer to neighbors or in a city, I can only imagine what people would be thinking! He would walk away a little like he was going to go potty and then he'd stop and look back at me. I'd say it again, "go potty", he'd walk away like he was going to, then stop and look at me again. How many times did this happen?! This was not a time of counting but it was a time of fury eyes.

I heard a tree fall in the middle of the night. Is that slow, awake, or just scary? And what's up with me noticing trees falling right now?

Overall just feeling slower in my life and it feels so unlikely and unbelievable, because my time of life and personality type is so busy and chaotic. But I feel calm in my center and it's surprising me. and lovely.
refrain: I am frantic and crazed with the stuff I have to do and all that is going on, this busiest period of life, but I'm also not frantic or crazed. Calm chaos?

Another time of taking time to have multiple conversations. Called my uncle when he asked. Stayed longer in a conversation than I felt I had time for. Actually make that 2.

Called my Mom. Unless you count the dropped call with the call back, we did not "double up" but we did have our daily call.

Impromptu went to pick up stuff that was almost year over due. Had a long lovely convo there too. Did not feel I stayed longer than I had time for. Just felt nice to chat in the alley.

Took the time to text a friend about that friend: "a little visit with Steven this evening when I went to pick up my year over due stuff. He is so lovely! Thank you for bringing him into my life."

Sent 2 other big appreciation texts. The guy who hooked me up with the guy with the truck and the guy with the truck. This whole line up that happened today, IF IT WORKS OUT AS CURRENTLY PLANNED, is going to help me out in a HUGE unaccounted for way with this market set up work. Was this somehow a product of slow?!

What did you do to slow down today?

And what does this have to do with you today?

standouts / other thoughts

quote(s) to consider

What is the speed of good?

word of the day

adagio: adverb / adjective / noun: slowly, at an easy, unhurried pace.

From Italian ad agio, meaning “at ease” or “at leisure.”

In music, adagio is a direction to play slowly, often with a sense of spaciousness and expression.

Like meanwhile? interim? limbo?

a collection of standouts from the Slow Down Challenge

Sometimes - do it in real time, IS slowing down

I found products I have probably saved too long for a special occasion and I used them. Now was the special occasion. Slowing down is special?

when is going to see your Mom or best friend or grandma or a grave or some other special kindred worthwhile soul, when are those visits NOT of the SLOW DOWN quality?

I have said that when I am missing the moons, I'm not living right. I slowed down enough to use the moon. To not miss the moon. Robust night time ritual. Ended the day VERY calm and relaxed and property oriented in my head.

Sometimes what’s slowing down one day may NOT be what’s slowing down the text.

music in the car: when I did listen to it, it used to be hype me up for whatever I'm on my way to, type stuff. During this, it's been a - SLOW ME DOWN for my life kind of soundtrack.

Do slow and calm go in an equation together?

slow does not necessarily mean you're late to things, and apparently it also doesn't mean you can't be early!

Seems making time for people I care about is a theme here. Maybe I do it when I'm not in slow down mode, maybe I'm doing it more in slow down mode.

I felt slowed down and not behind. That was a noted moment.

Trees do not fall down slow. And figuring out the SOUND of a tree falling is not something you should do in a slow way.
Experiencing the sound of a tree coming down beside you... where's the slow in that?

Is noticing, slow?

Maybe slowing down isn't texting so casually...

Called my Mom. Maybe calling my Mom daily is a slow down thing overall.

D272: Now reflecting on the day, I see that I forgot all about that toad all day. When I was fast and busy, I stopped thinking about that toad at all. And now I'm thinking of the toad again. And now I'm wondering about that. What kinds of things we lose track of when we are busy and not slow. What kinds of thoughts we have when we are slow versus not slow. That the quality and kind of our thoughts is actually different depending on our pace in life?! That is both obvious and seems specially and specifically illuminated by this toad experience. This I am sure is happening all the time, all the time..

A busy person will always be very busy

let the kettle take how long it takes

I put what I WANT above SLOW. The only reason slow is important right now is because I want it.

It seems slow has been making me early.
And that seems counterintuitive or something.

Things you could know about me:

take this out and make it a blog post on the website

order: newest adds at the top, older things at the bottom

One of my favorite things is to get a message from someone that details a dream they had, that I was in. The kind of intimacy that takes.

I don't eat the vegetables right away. I buy things and then save them for later until they go bad. Goes for fruit too. I just buy and eat less fruit than vegetables .

(diamond as a shape is essentially 2 triangles you know)

Kym fact - I rarely wash my face. Definitely not an end of day or beginning of day skin care face thing person.

some plurals I don't spell right: leafs, lifes,

I don't have a lot of committed organization of my time. Every day is different and I decide what it is. AKA no 9-5 or anything like it or regular.

I love a good double meaning, just like I love a double negative!

a theme of character: Kym has a tendency of disdain for certain words. ( I should make that list.)
(STARTING THAT LIST: vacation, deserve, hope, need)
defining and qualifying are usually why words end up on this list.

Sunrises are Mom. Sunsets are Dad.

true crime podcasts affect my outlook on life

disdain for vaguity. vague is not nice

I'm a horror to say anything to some times

Mismatched shoes is a me thing; it is not a mistake I walked out the door with.

Watching a dog run on the beach is one of the purest sights of happiness I know.

I was not a whiskey drinker. I don't know when I become a whiskey drinker. I have hated whiskey and all dark liquor all my life. Now I drink old fashioneds. Who have I become?

You will often find me "wrapping my head around that good thought"

vague. I don't like vague. don't be vague with me, I won't be vague with you. at least not on purpose.

I like to antagonize common sayings and typical perspectives

Everything is a choice and authenticity is supreme.

Reflecting on my life whether it's looking back at the last month or doing a "this time last year" thing, shorter or longer time frames, doing this at all is a reflection of who I am. That I care to consider who I am, who I have been, what I have done, so that I may use all of that to inform what I do and who I am in the present and the future. That I reflect is a reflection of who I am.

I know, I'm a horror to say anything to some times..

when all my identities are umbrellas

I love a good double negative!

Plan in quotes because I'm so averse to "plans" and "goals".

I chunk out my days, to the minute, in Gcal.

I love to putter so if it becomes "I puttered my life away" so be it.

I'm not a cherry picker, of anything. I like to use things that exist rather than start from new or scratch.

I am an ostrich about politics, news, current events, pop culture and media.

I dislike clichés and most positive quotes, under thought things meant well, commonly said quotes and phrases.

Don't tell me what to do, don't ask me "how how are you?" or say "I'm sorry for your loss" unless you want to annoy me or you really, really mean it. And know it can be hard to tell which it is, and I'm wrong not infrequently.

30 Day Challenges are my thing. I have a tendency to make things every day things. This is where 30 Day Challenges come from!

Like yourself. Know yourself. Express that self.
Think about things. Don't feel like you have to dance in the rain to have a good life.
Don't have a plan. Stand for what matters. Read when you want to. Don't smile when people tell you to.
Don't have goal. Tend plants. Leave marks. Do what you say. Change YOUR world. And your mind!
Be a friend and a daughter and a partner and a sister and a dog mom.
In a world full of "accept who you are" messages, don't forget to be a "work on that" kind of person.
Don't put kindness above truth. Try new things. Be honest. Live by ideals. Have some whimsy.
What you do for money matters; strive to like what you do for money. (job)
If you have a hobby you need a life.
Use what attracts you and let what you care about matter!

Peepers are my favorite sound.

Triangles are my favorite shape.

54 is my number.

I never need to talk but thank you for offering to listen.

If you say I'm overthinking it, I'll probably say you are underthinkig it.

why I do what I do: I want to "make you" THINK. I don't mind if your experience and perception of me "makes you" be more mindful, use your brain more, "think too much" or consider something more carefully, or differently, or moves you to be (more) thoughtful or intentional or authentic.

I am a hugger and I mean my hugs.

I don't like to have scheduled things. The days where I have something scheduled are a certain category of feeling. I'm not very fond of pre sign ups, committing to things in advance externally. My favorite days are the ones I call "blank slate days". Nothing scheduled, nothing formally EXTERNALLY committed (I am full of internal commitment and ideas all the time, so no day is truly uncommitted).

use the moons

I love rules and I am a ruler follower.

I like a cup to fill.

So which is it Kym. Do you like wide open clean slate no commitment things?
Or you "need" want and thrive in containers, defined spaces, rules and limits?

Geez what a walking contradiction. A biggest when to which Witch!?

SOC life - what you allow in, turns into what you spend your time on. Can you see it?

Tomb raider hot is my favorite kind of girl hot, my favorite hot to be.
