Do you have a favorite way you like to be experienced by others or affect people? Tuesday July 14, 2026 morning, 9 am Greetings Thinkers, Tuesday, New Moon π. Day 190 of this. A round number but not round enough to matter once you're in the hundreds. Mid July. How is it mid July already? A stupid question to ask. I want to slow down soon. As soon as I think it, I also think - that's another stupid thing to say. I recently advised someone to quit their job without a new job lined up for the same reason saying I want to slow down, is stupid. We lament a life we want, while staying in the circumstances we want to leave or change. as cliche as it is, taking the leap before it will work, is what makes it work(Note: I am not the person who gives "responsible advice".) I am the friend who will tell you to quit the job or take the trip without the new job offer signed, without the savings account buffered. I will tell you to get the dog, ditch the guy, go for the girl. Whatever it is you are saying you want, I will tell you it matters and you should do it. It is my experience and opinion that the "safer" way is the slow wayIt's not that slow is bad, but it IS that slow can become the - it took 15 years to do it, and how much life and other things did you miss in those 15 years you took? In the fact of compounding, every thing you do is affected my every thing you do and everything you do brings about different "consequences" and other things. Different results that affect that next and next and next thing. The longer you wait, the more you delay all the things that could be coming for you. So my approach is - to whatever unreasonable extent you "can", do the things you want to do. You should do those things. The equal and opposite of "fail fast". Don't wait, don't lament, don't get ready. Do the direction you desire and stuff will come up and support you. Another equal and opposite: How did I get here, why did I write all that? Oh it started at "I want to slow down soon" as a stupid thing to say. what else? Do you have a favorite way you like to be experienced by others or affect people? Mine is to be told "you make me think" - you make me think better, you make me think differently, or about things I've never thought about. This is my favorite thing to be in the world. This is my favorite kind of compliment to receive. This is my favorite way to affect others. What is yours? Worked on the "thing with Mom" by going over to see her. I hadn't seen her since 2 days before my bday and I had gotten mad at her during that time. So yesterday I went to see her and we talked it out. Sometimes things happen that "make me" notice how much or relationship has changed over 40 years. Yesterday was one of them. Don't tell me what to do, don't ask me "how how are you?" or say "I'm sorry for your loss" unless you want to annoy me or you really, really mean it. And know it can be hard to tell which it is, and I'm wrong not infrequently.

why I do what I do: I want to "make you" THINK. I don't mind if your experience and perception of me "makes you" be more mindful, use your brain more, "think too much" or consider something more carefully, or differently, or moves you to be (more) thoughtful or intentional or authentic.
I am a hugger and I mean my hugs.
I don't like to have scheduled things. The days where I have something scheduled are a certain category of feeling. I'm not very fond of pre sign ups, committing to things in advance externally. My favorite days are the ones I call "blank slate days". Nothing scheduled, nothing formally EXTERNALLY committed (I am full of internal commitment and ideas all the time, so no day is truly uncommitted).
