what's in this email: travel day home from the big beach trip Wednesday September 16, 2026 8:45 PM Greetings Thinkers, Back to from the pineapple print chair and mismatched striped ottoman. We are home again. I am denoting the official end of Summer, for myself: with a Corona on the drive home, my Dad's sunset over my shoulder on the last leg of that drive home, and a vodka tonic from this chair. I said before I left: the Annual Grove Family Beach trip is a SUMMER beach trip, the Annual Grove Family Beach trip is in September, September is Fall to me. = doesn't add up. I am aware. Thus I am very ritualistically making sense of all that NON sense, via these ritual-y things I am doing tonight on getting home from the travel day OF THIS TRIP. The Annual Grove Family Beach trip is officially over with this swig, and that thought, and this sentence typed out. I am letting September in, and shifting to Fall, while recalling it all. and by the end of this email, it will be FallSUMMER beach trip epilogue Whatever it is, this is how it came about. This morning, packing up the house, it was proclaimed: ~" really Kym, you left this much." as a slosh was swirled in a bottle of vodka for me to see. I wasn't the only one. The amount of vanilla caramel fudge Ben and Jerry's was questioned too. Whether it's interesting or not, I did not intentionally or consciously, leave this amount in the bottle. The kind of an amount that makes someone tell you it isn't worth packing and taking up cooler space. However, I was among half an amount of people who knew me as the kind of person who wouldn't pour it out. Just like I'm anti prone to throwing things away. Also without an end of season symbolic ritualistic moment in mind for the end of my day, I took one little can of diet tonic water. A little thing I picked up thanks to my aunt's drink of choice from this beach trip. Fast forward through a 10 hour drive home with multiple stops that could be their own Daily Email stories and at least half a dozen true crime podcast episodes in my head now, I have lined up the perfect end to this trip: pour the last quintessential alcoholic beverage of the very special beach trip in a glass and write about said trip and my Dad's death from this chair of HOME. So here we are and you know that I like line ups: 2. travel day home. In terms of COUNTS - is that the last day of the trip or is the travel day not quite the same as a day of the thing, and this should not be included in the count? Sure this might be like what they call mincing words; I mince numbers! 3. Today just so happens to be the anniversary of when my Dad died. Talk about a pile of things to feel about! Sitting on the deck, the last sunrise to get, is when it occurred to me. Sometimes it DOES mean that. Someone dies, you go to bed thinking about it, and you wake up thinking about it. You wake up wishing it was a bad dream. But that's not how it goes 4 years later. And this feels an emphasis for going to bed thinking about a thing, doesn't necessitate that you think about that thing at wake up. It was once on the swing watching the sunrise with my Mom, on the last day to do so, that I did NOT miss doing so after 2 days of missing it, that I "realized" it was the anniversary again, and it was from her thinking about it before I was thinking about it, that led to me thinking about it. (Thanks Mom for the way that happened this time.) so, a lot in the day, and a lot I could say about a lot things, while the drinks kick in and I feel a little heady and have to pee. In my own bathroom now! Whew is right. And I think for now, I'll continue tomorrow. Give a little more attention to being home and start the end of summer a little more tomorrow as I get back to "real life" that I have such disdain for a way of living that it's unusual for me to say it that way. Thinking some about the couch I dubbed dusty pigeon blue, while I write from the mismatched pineapple print stripe location. So I write to you at the end of our travel day, it's not that late, but I am tired. and my heart is heavy in a way people feel sorry for, but I don't . from x days to be ready for the trip

Mismatched shoes is a me thing; it is not a mistake I walked out the door with.
Watching a dog run on the beach is one of the purest sights of happiness I know.
I was not a whiskey drinker. I don't know when I become a whiskey drinker. I have hated whiskey and all dark liquor all my life. Now I drink old fashioneds. Who have I become?
You will often find me "wrapping my head around that good thought"

Reflecting on my life whether it's looking back at the last month or doing a "this time last year" thing, shorter or longer time frames, doing this at all is a reflection of who I am. That I care to consider who I am, who I have been, what I have done, so that I may use all of that to inform what I do and who I am in the present and the future. That I reflect is a reflection of who I am.

I love a good double negative!
Plan in quotes because I'm so averse to "plans" and "goals".
I chunk out my days, to the minute, in Gcal.
I love to putter so if it becomes "I puttered my life away" so be it.
I'm not a cherry picker, of anything. I like to use things that exist rather than start from new or scratch.
I am an ostrich about politics, news, current events, pop culture and media.
I dislike clichés and most positive quotes, under thought things meant well, commonly said quotes and phrases.
Don't tell me what to do, don't ask me "how how are you?" or say "I'm sorry for your loss" unless you want to annoy me or you really, really mean it. And know it can be hard to tell which it is, and I'm wrong not infrequently.
30 Day Challenges are my thing. I have a tendency to make things every day things. This is where 30 Day Challenges come from!
Like yourself. Know yourself. Express that self.
Think about things. Don't feel like you have to dance in the rain to have a good life.
Don't have a plan. Stand for what matters. Read when you want to. Don't smile when people tell you to.
Don't have goal. Tend plants. Leave marks. Do what you say. Change YOUR world. And your mind!
Be a friend and a daughter and a partner and a sister and a dog mom.
In a world full of "accept who you are" messages, don't forget to be a "work on that" kind of person.
Don't put kindness above truth. Try new things. Be honest. Live by ideals. Have some whimsy.
What you do for money matters; strive to like what you do for money. (job)
If you have a hobby you need a life.
Use what attracts you and let what you care about matter!

I never need to talk but thank you for offering to listen.
If you say I'm overthinking it, I'll probably say you are underthinkig it.
why I do what I do: I want to "make you" THINK. I don't mind if your experience and perception of me "makes you" be more mindful, use your brain more, "think too much" or consider something more carefully, or differently, or moves you to be (more) thoughtful or intentional or authentic.
I am a hugger and I mean my hugs.
I don't like to have scheduled things. The days where I have something scheduled are a certain category of feeling. I'm not very fond of pre sign ups, committing to things in advance externally. My favorite days are the ones I call "blank slate days". Nothing scheduled, nothing formally EXTERNALLY committed (I am full of internal commitment and ideas all the time, so no day is truly uncommitted).

So which is it Kym. Do you like wide open clean slate no commitment things?
Or you "need" want and thrive in containers, defined spaces, rules and limits?

what's in this email: the bad eggs fall away maybe it really is time to SLOW DOWN like the signs say Tuesday September 22,, 2026 9 AM Greetings you Thinkers, You know how I do the "monthly recaps"? Reviewing the month, seeing what stands out, what I did, what I said, themes and thoughts, and then I put all of that into one write, one email. Well I did that for running with turtles and slowing down this morning because I think that topic has come to a head. I think it's time to actually do it....
what's in this email: a good feeling to keep you away from bad stuff Monday September 21, 2026 10 AM Greetings you Thinkers, Monday, new week, post mid September, Fall. What's in the bag of this time of life? Duck is still sick. Coughing and hacking and retching, sneezing. It's weird to see a dog have a cold. Wiping his snotty nose... And I am worried and concerned and thinking about if and when to take him to the vet along with all my stuff of medical system resistance. Do we really need to...
